The "I AM Event: Identity and Memory" is more than an evening of great #Afrikan entertainment—it is also an intellectual stimulation that invites us, as Afrikan children, to reflect and return to ourselves.
We will not only enjoy a night of #creative expression through spoken word (Mwaringa Mae) and powerful music from Ashaba (Uganda), DJ Kanyeedee, and Jina Yetu (music band), but we will also stimulate our minds to remember who we are through a powerful #panel conversation featuring influential voices such as Martha Bekele (Ethiopia), Kenyetta Overton, Stanley Kiraga, and Gitura Kamau.
Together, we will explore #questions that sit at the heart of Afrikan #consciousness:
A. Who were we before the world told us who we were?
B. What parts of our identity have we unknowingly surrendered, and how do we reclaim them?
C. Is Afrikan memory something buried in history, or something still alive within us?
